    • Long’s ideas fall under Populist and Socialist ideologies of Winn Parish. Long wanted the wealth of America to be spread across all the citizens of America. To ensure that no one is overly wealthy and overly poor. And also to help those in need and veterans.

    • Taxation on large fortunes and corporate resulted from Long’s Share Our Wealth campaign. Also, the Social Security Act of 1935 ensured that the government was responsible for the well-being of all Americans, in hopes of preventing poverty.

  • Do you think this assertion increased or diminished support for his ideas? 
    • It seems to have increased the support of his ideas. It was during the time were a large majority of citizens were suffering. The idea that wealth could be distributed and those in suffering would receive help was what people wanted to hear and support. At the peak of his career, he had an estimated following of 5 million people. 
  • What did Long predict would be the consequences if the nation failed to adopt a program such as his? 
    • Long believed the United States will fall if it continues to allow six hundred families to control the majority of the country’s wealth while the rest of the citizens live in starvation.
