During the latter part of 2011, Occupy Wall Street started a movement opposed to the financial inequity in the United States. Over the course of several months, the movement spread to several major and smaller cities and resulted in many people being arrested and many of the “camp sites” created by the protesters being torn down by city officials.

Based on studied on persuasion and group influence in social psych, in your opinion, how did the movement get started, take hold, and spread to so many areas and last so long?
