The-Art-and-Science-of-Persuasion-psychology-homework-help

Read Harnessing the Science of Persuasion (Cialdini, 2001).  Consider this source as you complete the Assignment.

  1. Part I:  Examples
    1. Assemble advertisements, commercials, or personal experiences/observations that illustrate each of the six fundamental principles identified in Cialdini (2001). Do not use examples from your textbook.
      • Submit “Part I”, a separate document with the examples you located.  Preferably, copy and paste print media examples, along with proper citation information; links are acceptable for broadcast or electronic media (television, internet, etc.).  If neither images nor links are available (e.g., in the case of a personal observation or experience), a brief description will suffice.  Label your examples clearly and provide a one paragraph explanation for each.
  2. Part II:  A Social Psychological Analysis of _______
    1. Explain in-depth how social psychological principles of persuasion are relevant for one of your selected advertisements, citing relevant research. Relate characteristics of the communicator, the message, and the target audience.
    2. Formulate a plan to intentionally enhance persuasiveness.  What are various alternative techniques one might employ effectively?
      • Submit “Part II”, structured as a paper and written in APA style.

mandatory-preschool-Persuasive-Paper-writing-homework-help

Because good writing is always a process, our persuasive essay will be written in two parts: a first draft due this week and a final draft due in week 6. Your paper should be 3-4 pages in length.

As you prepare, here are a few reminders for this week’s draft:

In week 3 you posted a thesis for peer review. Use the revised thesis, based on your classmates’ and teacher’s feedback as the basis for your persuasive paper.

Use your sources to support your thesis. Research and prepare the passages you will consider using. Remember to review methods of paraphrasing, summarizing, and using direct quotations.

Prepare the body paragraphs by deciding where to place supporting information. Remember, each paragraph of the paper should act to build the momentum of the argument.

Apply pathos, logos, and ethos whenever possible.

Finally, remember that it’s okay if your ideas, opinions, or sources change during process of writing this paper. Writing makes us think, and it’s fine – even beneficial – to have our thoughts change as we express them on paper.

Wong A. (November, 18, 2014)  The case against universal preschool. Retrieved from  http://www.theatlantic.com/education/archive/2014/11/the-case-against-universal  –  preschool/382853/ July, 17, 2016

Universal pre-k exists in Oklahoma, Florida, and, New York. The United States ranks 26th in the world for the 4-year-olds enrolled in early education programs, which is far behind other countries when it comes to preschool participation. In some other countries, almost all four-year-olds are in rolled in some preschool program. Nearly all states have some funding for preschool but for low income families.  In 2012-2013 28 percent of the four-year-olds were enrolled in a low-income preschool program.  Some small-scale studies show that children that attend preschool are less likely to drop out of high school, get arrested, repeat grades, and require special education services, making them think that government-sponsored preschool is well worth the investment. Preschool needs to be available to all children not just low income families or the disadvantages kids.

Lester M. (May, 29th, 2007) The national preschool debate intensifies. Retrieved from  http://www.edutopia.org/preschool July, 17th, 2016

Arnold Schwarzenegger, the California governor, signed legislation to expanding preschool opportunities providing additional state dollars for improving preschool facilities. Kids who attended preschool have a better understanding of math skills, the alphabet, letter sounds, and are more comfortable with words, and book concepts. They also have more sharing skills, cleaning up skills and carpet time. Twelve states do not provide preschool services what so ever. Oklahoma is the only state to offer publicly funded preschool to 90 percent of child four years of age. The survey done in 1972, shows that the group of children enrolled in the preschool program had a much higher score on the mental tests than the group of children that attended the child care program.

Walstad D. Grove A. (August, 9th,2012) About mandatory pre-kindergarten. Retrieved from

http://www.brighthubeducation.com/parenting-preschoolers/105728-should-preschool-be-mandatory/ July, 17th, 2016

Mandatory preschool would require all kids to attend a government based preschool, or could face penalties. The government would provide tax dollars creating a universal preschool. The preschool would be for everyone regardless of the family’s income and would be available for children ages 2-5. Universal preschools would be taught by teachers with credential and have low teacher-child ratios. The people for mandatory preschool see the benefits, like having all children be kindergarten ready. Also, see it as an advantage for the parents who both work outside the home. People against mandatory preschool think parents should have the choice of teaching their children on their own before kindergarten.

Kanter B. Why preschool matters. Retrieved from http://www.parents.com/toddlers-  preschoolers/starting-preschool/curriculum/why-preschool-matters/ July, 17th, 2016

The evidence shows that children gain a lot from preschool.  “At preschool, they become exposed to numbers, letters, and shapes. And, more important, they learn how to socialize — get along with other children, share, contribute to circle time,” says Parents advisor Kathleen McCartney. Your child will find out how to strengthening socialization skills, compromise, be respectful of others, and problem-solve. Preschool is a place where kids can play with their peers and build confidence and self-worth. The teacher will play games to get the kids to learn like rhyming games or matching games instead of just trying to sit them down and repeat them to the children; they make it fun for the children to learn.

Staff G. (March, 18th, 2016) 10 good reasons your child should attend preschool. Retrieved from  http://www.greatschools.org/gk/articles/why-preschool/ July, 17th, 2016

Preschool forms a foundation that will help children succeed in elementary school. Preschool is usually kids first structured setting it is an opportunity for growth.  A high-quality early childhood education program will offer children both, kindergarten ready and play time. Teacher builds a relationship with the student making them trust an adult outside the family. Teachers can also help your child to manage frustrations or anger while letting children work problems out on their own. Children get to make a lot of choice on their own, like which activity to do. Children get to help out in the classroom which gains them self-worth and teaches them to take care of themselves.

thesis statement

Children who no not attend preschool are not ready for kindergarten and have no understanding of a learning environment, to prepare them preschool needs to be mandatory.

Replys on thesis statement

This is a great topic!  I can agree with this and bet you have a lot of ideas to put in your essay about it.  As a mom of 3 young children who have been in preschool and on to kindergarten I have seen what a benefit it is for them to be prepared. Its a major change for them to go from being at home to going to a classroom environment all day with so many expectations. It can be overwhelming for them and they can fall behind or have to be held back and repeat kindergarten. I have seen that happen firsthand and it can be hard.  Good luck!

I think this is a great topic. I would look up the Abbott Preschool Program. New Jersey made preschool legal starting at age 3. It might be a good place to start.

Kelsey, this thesis statement should work well for you as you develop your essay; it’s also has a typo and a run on sentence so be sure to review the video in announcements, which will show you how to fix run ons. (from the teacher)

Improved-Teacher-Training-and-Professionalism-Teacher-Training-writing-homework-help

Review section 5.4 (Will be attached) in your text, “Improved Teacher Training and Professionalism.” Your text shares a multitude of examples that demonstrate an increase of quality in teacher training. Describe at least three factors (e.g., normal schools broadened their curricula to the training of secondary school teachers, requirement of the completion of high school to be admitted to college for teacher training, teachers must have a bachelor’s degree, development and growth of teacher training courses, Herbartianism, teacher certification, and teacher organizations) that contribute to improved teacher training in the late-19th and early-20th centuries. Select one contribution and determine if it is still prevalent today. Explain how you could improve on this contribution by using technology in your own classroom or school situation.

Guided Response:  When responding to your peers, suggest ways to continue to strengthen the contribution listed, so that this influence remains strong in our education system today. Describe why you believe this contribution should continue to be a part of our current education system.  Respond to at least two peers.
