Proposal and Preliminary Bibliography
You will be required to submit a Proposal and Preliminary Bibliography for your Research Paper by March 13th. This proposal and annotated biography will show me that you are on the right track and should also help you prepare for the final push for this assignment over the last two months of the semester.
Your proposal is a brief, paragraph or two statement about what your project will be about, the focus of your research, and (most importantly) your thesis statement. Think of this proposal as an early form of the introduction of your research paper, where you essentially tell me what the paper will be about and your argument. Note: Your thesis statement does not have to be set in stone at this point, but it should illustrate the intention of your paper.
If you are still not clear about a thesis statement, see https://owl.english.
Along with your proposal, you should also submit an annotated bibliography. An annotated bibliography is a collection of sources for your paper that act as a preliminary guide for your research. You should have at least five of your sources included in your annotated bibliography.
With each source, you will provide a short annotation. This will be a paragraph or two which summarizes and evaluates the relevance of the sources in association with your topic. Remember, the point of this annotated bibliography is to illustrate how these sources will be used in your paper and act as the foundation of your argument.
If you are still not clear about the annotated bibliographies, see https://owl.english.
